Rates vary. FD interest rates differ by bank, tenure, and depositor category and change over time. Enter the actual rate quoted to you — no rate here is presented as a universal current rate.

FD formula

A cumulative fixed deposit uses compound interest:

M = P × (1 + r/n)n×t

where P is the principal, r is the annual rate (as a decimal), n is the number of compounding periods per year, and t is the term in years.

Why compounding frequency matters

The more often interest is compounded, the sooner earned interest starts earning its own interest. For the same rate, quarterly compounding yields slightly more than annual compounding. Confirm the frequency your bank uses for your specific deposit.

Assumptions & Limitations

  • Models a cumulative FD where interest is reinvested until maturity.
  • TDS and taxation are not applied to the maturity value shown.
  • Premature-withdrawal penalties are not modelled.
